870MW Dudhkoshi Storage Hydroelectric Project, Nepal

Reviewer for this large storage project which includes a 220m CFRD and 13km headrace power tunnel feeding an 600MW underground powerhouse on the Sunkoshi River. A 70MW dam toe powerhouse is also included at the base of the dam. This review project for the World Bank includes: hydrology, sediment, geotechnics, dam design, hydraulic structures, water conveyance, powerhouses, E&M, energy simulation, cost, contracts, construction methodology and schedule. Review of documents include a Feasibility Study, Detailed Design Report and Bidding Documents.

860MW Baynes Hydropower Project, Namibia/Angola

This project on the Kunene River consists of a large RCC arch main dam generating peaking energy of around 860MW. An 18MW Balancing Dam is situated downstream to re-regulate the flows back to a constant flow for environmental and social purposes. This Technical Advisory Service is being provided through SMEC for the PJTC of Angola and Namibia.
